Modern cafe does not disappoint! The food and drinks are great and I've always had great service. I gave the atmosphere 4 stars instead of 5 because when you go during busy times it's so loud you can barely hear the person across from you and have to shout.... so I'll go back to eating here when it's not busy as I tend to avoid restaurants for noise level as I don't find it a pleasant dining experience.. however its also good news for the restaurant that they get that busy and popular! Great place.
An absolute must-visit in downtown Nanaimo! Housed in a stunning 115+ year old heritage building, this place blends rich history with a genuinely modern dining experience. We came back twice for dinner in just three days — that says it all. The Lavender Gin Fizz is a must if you enjoy gin, and the Modern Bowl is equally impressive. The menu is so good, I'd love to work my way through every single dish! Warm, welcoming, and full of character — Modern Cafe is a downtown Nanaimo treasure worth every visit.
Lovely service from Jessica! Great brunch and the potatoes are delicious. Must try! Had the mocha and Nanaimo cheesecake. Would recommend both as well. Thank you for a great experience.
